Furious Love

I'm currently reading Furious Love- Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger. I can barely put it down; I love it that much. The Preface begins with two quotes.

"I am forever punished by the gods for being given the fire and trying to put it out. The fire, of course, is you."-Richard Burton

"Since I was a little girl, I believed I was a child of destiny, and if that is true, Richard Burton was surely my fate." -Elizabeth Taylor

Addicted, I am. The above picture is said to be one of Elizabeth's favorites from her wedding day.

"The bride wore a yellow chiffon dress designed by Irene Sharaff, who had fashioned her stunning costumes for Cleopatra. She wore hyacinths and lily of the valley in her coiled hair, and the $150,000 emerald-and-diamond necklace Burton had given her, and matching earrings as his wedding gift." -From the book, Furious Love.

This was her fifth marriage and her husband's second.

To be continued...
