Japanese Punk Rock Christmas

So, quite unexpectedly, we found ourselves on a Friday night without our children.  It being just a few weeks before Christmas, we decided on an impromptu company Christmas party.  Since the "company" consists of my husband and my sister-in-law's boyfriend, it was an intimate family affair.

Where to go?  What to do?  One thing that I've learned to expect, is that any celebration in my husband's family usually is a call for sushi.  So sushi it was.  We went to Wasaabi and ordered way too much and tried lots of fun combinations.  I ordered Dragon in honor of Ava's love of all things named Dragon.

We talked politics (we're all lefties).  I've always shied away from the topic because I believe my beliefs are my beliefs and I feel no need to try and persuade people to come to the left side.  I also don't feel it necessary to defend my beliefs either.  Being in the company of like minded people was nice.  We're all extremely excited about Obama and are proud to have voted for him.

After gorging ourselves, we decided to go out for (more) drinks.  There was an Irish Pub nearby, but we decided not to go there.  A Japanese/Irish evening was not to be.  A Japanese/Punk Rock evening it turned out to be.  We headed over to The Wedge.  I had never been there and had never heard of it, but my much more cool and hip sister-in-law had.  Both she and her boyfriend Jason, play in bands.  So of course they knew where to go.

It was an interesting mix of people.  I think the upstairs was where they held shows and downstairs was a pizza parlor/bar. What was so hilarious was that Eric sang every song that they played.  Dead Kennedy's, Fugazi, Minor Threat, Henry Rolllins...  I guess I forgot that my husband was a punk skater in his day.  It was a perfect Christmas party Eric style.
