I woke up to a new year 2007. It already feels like a good year. We had our typical (that doesn't mean boring to me) celebration with a twist. Usually New Years consists of a yummy dinner and movie watching. This time we had the yummy dinner and watched Garrison Keillor's New Years Show. It was a nice change. We eventually went to bed and listened to the show on the radio. I think there was a group on the show called the Old Crows that I now like. (Update-Old Crow Medicine Show)
My first attempt at Creme Brulee was not spot on. It tasted fabulous, but the consistency was all wrong. I don't think I beat the egg yolks enough. My Kitchenaid mixer doesn't do a good job when there is just a little something (like 4 egg yolks) in the bottom of the bowl. I'm already planning my second attempt.
I'm not sure what we're doing today. I know I want to buy a calendar. I like starting the year off going through it adding important dates and seeing what day of the week particular dates fall on. What day is my birthday for instance? It just seems so exciting-all the months, seasons, weeks, and days ahead-all of the celebrations and firsts to experience.
