Hydrangea Leaves
Hydrangea flowers
Another one of those days when I write a little in the morning and come back with even more exciting happenings...Ha.
I decided that shoveling my icy driveway might provide a more productive and interesting workout than the treadmill in the basement. The idea of getting up and "at 'em!" had to be acted upon quickly, before I allowed myself five more minutes of cuddling in my warm comfy bed. I've lost entire days to this.
Eric was out warming up his truck when I surprised him. Me, in the garage, ready to work before 8 a.m.. As I said, I couldn't think twice about my decision to kick Wednesday's ass, so I didn't bother getting properly dressed. I went out in my bedclothes, boots without socks, coat, and gloves. After the shock of seeing me wore off, Eric gave me a more detailed look over. "You're wearing your nightgown," he said. And that was it.
I'm sure he was perfectly fine with my state of dress as my pajamas were gifts from him. I had on my old fashioned, white, cotton, waffle weave long underware bottoms. Size: small petite-BOYS! I have a front pocket for something I clearly do NOT possess. I also have a pair (also boys) in black made of some synthetic material. Somebody needs to show my husband where the women's long underware section is located.
I finished my outfit off with what I affectionately refer to as my granny jammies. Another gift from my husband. 100% cotton, baby blue with white polka dots, pink (with white polka dot) ribbon accent trim, roomy, hits me mid-calf. My husband is sending me very mixed messages with his selection of my bedroom attire.
...So after two sessions, the entire driveway is shoveled and salted. I'm not sure the last time my heart was pumping so fast. I'm pathetic. Unless we get more snow and ice (please God!), I'll be stuck raising my heart rate on the lonely treadmill in the dark, frigid basement. Sigh.
I never did leave the house. Instead, I did something indoors. I organized and labeled the chiffarobe that contains my children's dress up clothes. There is a "basket of hats" and drawers of "purses, scarves and handkerchiefs, and accessories". I thought about labeling the "accessories" drawer "guns and whips", but decided "accessories" would allow future objects of a non-weapon nature, a home.
I've added more photos to flickr. After looking at them, I've decided two things: I need to go take more pictures and brown is the new grey.
My decorating is hugely inspired by the outdoors. My living room is the perfect shade of grey (Behr paint, color-porpoise). I have sheer white curtains and an oak floor. This mimics the great outdoors-grey sky, wispy white clouds, and the dirt ground.
While I feel like I'm moving in a new decorating direction, I think my color choices will remain rooted in the beauty of the outdoors. I am obsessed with the pictures I've been taking. The ice encased faded golden grass, the spent hydrangea blooms dripping with icicles, the amazing leaves of another hydrangea bush that are curled in cone shapes, and lastly, the remnants of coneflowers in various stages of decomposition. I need a room to decorate. Most everything is freshly painted, so this new found inspiration may have to grow a little before it comes to fruition.
