Ava, Tessa, Audrey, Lemon Louise, and Cocoa
My Birthday Girl, surrounded by family and friends on her 10th birthday.
I've given myself an unpleasant assignment. Seven posts in seven days. I don't know how many consecutive posts I've made. Probably not many. Can my life possibly be interesting enough to write about this frequently? I will find the humor...it won't be seven posts of mundane details of nothingness... Sometimes I have to remind myself that I write for my girls. I can't scrapbook, so I write. This is a record of our life. It may not be interesting to anybody right now, but will at least be a reminder of my daughter's childhoods.
Yesterday, my first born turned 10! It was a terrific day. She spent the night before at my parent's house. We all met at The Blue Owl for breakfast. It was lovely. We gave Audrey a "birthday girl" with the number 10, red head socks, and $100. She was So happy. She is saving for a saddle.
She chose a yellow cake with chocolate icing with pink and orange decorations. Her friends that came over: Cloe, Sydney, Elizabeth, Tessa, Remy, Jayna, and Mark. Both sets of grandparents, Aunt Cory, Aunt Julie, Jac, and Brent rounded it out. She is a very blessed and loved girl. It was my 10 year being a mommy day as well. A decade into the adventure!
We are getting ready to have what is supposed to be one hell of a winter storm. I took Ava to school only to find out that it was called off. Oops. Being so close, we went to the grocery store to really stock up. Feeling prepared feels good.
Today has been quite mellow. It started raining about five minutes after we got home. It's making icicles on everything. I went out in the yard and took pictures. Icicles on dead plants is so gorgeous. Something about dead leaves all decked out in these shiny jewels. My oak tree, hydrangea, cone flowers, and decorative grass were dazzling. (Dazzling? I don't think I've ever used that word...).
I think we're ready for whatever nature has in store for us. I bought gasoline for the generator, we have a large stockpile of wood, and plenty of food. I'm pretty excited. This is going to be fun.
