My Boots and I Went Walking...Parts 2 and 3

I was on such a writing streak (for me) and then, nothing. I am forcing myself to add an update to my boot story. I took them out two times in one week! Our exciting life together. After a rocky start to our relationship (Asia in a casino?), I reevaluated my boot wearing criteria. I think I have made my boots proud. I didn't step in manure, or walk on water, or put out a fire in my boots, but I did manage to get them off the concrete for a while.

Our first adventure this week did find us returning to the city-concrete, traffic, congestion. I had to do it to get to the Pageant to see Old Crow Medicine Show! I thought OCMS was definitely boot worthy. I saw them about a year ago at the same place. Both times I drank WAY too much vodka. My boots loved the show. I miss Critter. Where is he? He was my favorite! Big Time in the Jungle, Bobcat Tracks... Where is he?

Our second outing this week found ourselves in Waterloo, Illinois at a complete stranger's house for a pig roast, bonfire, hayride, square dancing party. No live music, but fun all the same. We drank warm apple cider cooked over a small fire and tried to keep track of our children. It was hard keeping up with a three year old after dark. There was a lake at the bottom of a hill that kept me worried.

My husband wanted me to include that my boots also saw me throw up multiple times. Oops. I may have faltered a bit, but my boots never let me down even when I was wobbling about my house. I just let going out on a Wednesday night get the best of me or was it the four vodka and cranberries I drank?

I think my new criteria is working. I may need to tweak it a bit. I'll take vomiting off the list. I think horseback riding in my new boots is a good goal. I think my girls have boot envy and may require a pair for Christmas. The boot store is a dangerous place-if they go there looking, you know that I will too. My boots just told me that they want friends. I have to keep them happy.
