This was our third trip to Smoky Mountain National Park. We honeymooned there twelve years ago, and then returned two years later with our six month old baby.
This time, we came as a complete family. It was wonderful sharing this special place with our girls. They immediately fell in love with the beauty of the mountains. I love how they spent the vacation constantly commenting on how much they loved it there and inquiring if we could please move to this beautiful place. They also thanked us over and over for taking them there. That made the whole trip for me.
This is our cabin, Brookside. It was certainly the prettiest place we've ever stayed. It was secluded high up on the mountain. There was a private multilevel walkway that took us down to a brook. It was so relaxing listening to the sound of the running water constantly. It is located in Wear's Valley, Tennessee.
A pretty tunnel in the park.
On our first day, we visited Cades Cove. The last time we were there, we saw a bear. We didn't see a bear this time, but did see one in the main park on our last day. There is a stable there, and the horses were out grazing on the lush spring grass.
This was my favorite horse. I just love its color and spots.
One in every color!
This horse was massive. He was also incredibly friendly.
Three toms and two hens in Cades Cove. The boys were flaunting to two hungry uninterested girls.
Audrey caught butterflies while at the Sinks.
We dropped Eric off for a day of fly fishing. He fell, busted his good knee, caught one fish, and had a great time.
Easter morning. I find it funny that the girl's egg trays match their Easter pajamas. That was not planned :)
The girls took full advantage of having a jacuzzi (and hot tub) everynight. I think they're acting out "zombies on roller coasters".
We did indulge in one ultra touristy destination-Ripley's Aquarium. Here the girls are in the penguin house. They really enjoyed it.
While Eric was fishing, I took the girls on a trail ride. We saw a black snake sunning itself on a tree branch and a bear track in the mud. Otherwise, it wasn't the greatest experience. Ava loved it (I think she just likes bossing a thousand pound animal around).
Here, Eric took the girls on a different trail ride inside the park with Sugarlands Stables. That was a wonderful, wonderful experience. I was a bit sore from the last ride and sat this one out. I'll go next time though.
The end.
