Yesterday was my birthday! I couldn't remember what I did last year. Maybe I wrote about it. I'll have to look. So in case next year I forget again, I'll have this little post to remind me of it.

Audrey, Eric, and I dropped Ava off for her second day of kindergarten. We spoke to the principal about POSSIBLY reenrolling Audrey... Went to Intercon, Eric's warehouse, and then to Chesterfield so Eric could do the one and only bit of ACS business for the day. While he was doing his thing, he dropped Aud and I off at Starbucks. I let my nine year old get an iced-cappuccino. It made her over the top happy. Nothing better than seeing your first born deliriously happy over a beverage.

Went to the Galleria so I could get lost in the oh-so-lovely Anthropologie. I tried on three dresses and bought one. I had found two of them on-line and loved them (on-line). Eric actually found the one I ended up buying. It is perfect. A cream button down with deer, birds, flowers, and trees on it. Sounds kinda strange, but it is really pretty. I brought it home and tried it on with my birthday boots and Eric said the dress and boots were made to be worn together. My husband can say the most perfect things.

Picked Ava up from school at noon and sat and discussed what we should do. I finally decided on visiting PASTE in Soulard. It was okay. Then we went to Lafayette Square and had lunch in the courtyard of Square One Brewery and Distillery. After all of the insanely hot weather, having a perfect weather day on my birthday was extra nice. It was so breezy and cool. Plus the food and service were excellent to boot. Me-falafel. It was crunchy with a spicy sauce. Ava-chicken fingers-looked homemade and good. Audrey-smoked salmon BLT-wow. I had a bite. The tomato was gorgeous. I love summer produce! Eric-reuben. Give me anything on marble rye anytime. Delish.

After lunch, we stopped in a couple of stores in the area. Nothing too exciting. The girls did fall in love with a pug named Alvin at the glass store. The owner was amazingly nice as well. If I ever need a custom piece of stained glass...

In the evening we met Cory, Eric's folks, and my folks at Terrazza Grill. It was really nice. It is owned by the Lombardo Family. It was pretty inside. A little odd having a place like that in Arnold, but hopefully more independent places like that will follow. Service-amazing! Food-very good. Perhaps a tad salty. Not too much to make it unpleasant though. I didn't know that the Lombardos are known for toasted ravioli. I've had plenty of toasted ravioli, but this stuff was on another level. I will only eat it from there from now on (not that I eat it often).

Cory surprised me and ordered a bottle of Foris Pinot Noir before I arrived. We put at least three bottles of that away at our ACS Christmas party. A family favorite! Deny and Lyn gave me a gift certificate for a night at a place in Grafton, Illinois. I was surprised. Now, I have a night away to look forward to.

And...I just remembered what I did last year. How could I have forgotten? Oh my. Dinner at the Tap Room and Mary Poppins at The Fox. Shit. That WAS awesome. Hoping something amazing is at The Fox next August. Another great birthday memory.
