My Quest for the Crawdad Pin

I had my Master Naturalist meeting tonight. I got my crawdad pin! I was so excited to finally get it. I busted my butt to get the last few hours of advanced training in to qualify. I only had to get 16 hours of training in for the year, but for some reason, I was left scrambling. Luckily, I took a class at SNR on deer resistant native plant landscaping and a lecture at Powder Valley on macro-invertebrates in big rivers.

Both trainings were very interesting. But this is about my new jewelry! I told Eric that I got my pin. I also told him this is what my life has come to-I have to do HOURS of volunteer work and take training classes in order to get jewelry. Something is definitely wrong here buddy!

I'm off to a strong start this year with my advanced training. I think I'll have my 16 hours in after this Saturday. I: took an 8 hour class to become a certified archery instructor (MONASP), a geology lecture, and a presentation by The Big Muddy (tonight). Thursday and Saturday of this week should finish off my hours as I go on my first pheasant hunt. Wow! I'm super excited about that one. I just signed up for another 8 hour class for the intro to water quality monitoring class as well. New adventures!

Now it just comes down to getting major volunteer hours in. I want to set a goal for myself. I'm not too concerned about meeting the requirement (80 hours). I want to set a BIG goal. We'll have to see. I just look forward to learning, doing, and discovering things about myself and my world around me. Definitely a journey of discovery.
