My first born is officially 9 years old! Last year, we had a slumber party to celebrate. I decided I kind of would like to do something different this year. So, Eric and I secretly booked a hayride/bonfire at Greensfelder Stables as a special birthday surprise. I couldn't keep having a secret a secret, so I told Audrey that I had a secret. She then asked me one hundred million times a day what that secret was all the way until her birthday breakfast.
After both Eric and I had our first swallow of coffee, Ava was allowed to tell her big sister the big plan. Even though it was 20 something degrees outside, and we had a fresh blanket of snow, Audrey was very excited. Luckily it was a gorgeous sunny day with very little wind. A perfect snowy outdoor birthday party. Eric has decided that we are going to make a tradition of celebrating her birthday in the great out-of -doors. We, after all, are raising two tough little girls.
