My Boots and I Went Walking...Part 1

My Boots and I went walking....

I expected my Corral's first outing to be at some cowboy worthy outdoorsy event. Not so. There is a line in the movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" in which George Clooney remarks that the town he is in is a geographical oddity. I love that. Apparently he is stuck in a place that is exactly 2 weeks from everywhere. In two weeks he can have anything he wants, but not a day sooner. I found myself in a similar situation.

My boots and I went to Asia. By Asia, I mean a restaurant in a Casino in downtown St. Louis. A geographical oddity in its own right. A place that Audrey should be able to identify as the world's largest continent. Only she can't. Hopefully by the end of the week when I test her, she will be able to.

We were there to celebrate Eric's 35th birthday four days early because he would be spending his actual birthday in Bend, Oregon, fly-fishing with his O.T.D. buddies. The casino is separated from the restaurants by a half wall. Ava's sweet little three year old self immediately noticed the excitement buzzing around her. You could practically see the sparks flying off of her excited little head as she exclaimed (in her loudest, high pitched voice), "DAD, DAD!!! THEY HAVE GAMES! THEY HAVE GAMES!!" and then, "Do you have any money?"

So back to the boots. I feel slightly ashamed of myself for this. Cowboy's first outing was a restaurant in a casino. How perfectly un-cowboy is that. I'll have to make up to them this questionable beginning in our relationship.

We did have fun together-my boots and I. We drank white wine and ate spider roll sushi. PBR and medium rare steak might have been what they (the boots) were expecting. Oh, expectations!

The corrals looked so beautiful peaking out beneath my blue jeans. The perfect shade of brown-like a rich, buttery, chocolate cake batter (homemade NOT from a box). They were immediately comfortable and worthy of notice. I heart my cowboy boots.

I promise the next time we step out together, to step in manure. To not touch concrete. Maybe put out fire. Maybe walk on water. With cowboy boots, the possibilities are endless. I can't wait to see what we do next.
